Dreams and realities

You lying so low in the weeds
Bet you gonna ambush me
Youd have me down, down, down to my knees
Wouldnt you, Barracuda?...

So fitting, Hearts rocking sound and great vocals. Really gets the juices flowing. Plus its my ultimate dream car. I have always wanted an In-violet 1970 Plymouth Cuda with the 426ci Hemi.

I remember once when I was younger my dad asked me if I thought I could keep on the ground if I ever got one? He said they were so light it would be tough. I did not care though. The sweet color and sleek lines. It was the car Dreams are made of...

The reality is my first car (which was given to me in 94) was an 86 Plymouth Reliant K Bronze. Mono speaker, the headliner was sagging, 4 door babe magnet lol Honestly the only good thing about the car was it was free, and it ran well (which is the most important part). I did happen to lose my virginity in the back seat of it at Edgewater though. Yes even at 6'3"ish (2 and change) still made it work in that little beast.

From there I graduated to the Blue Torpedo. My 88 Chevy Caprice. Now this beauty I had repainted to a Metallic Blue. I had installed a stereo with 12 total speakers, a powered EQ, and dual amps. When this bad boy broke down I could thump home. I kept this car way past its drivable age I loved it so.

During this time my eldest was born, so I did the sensible thing (other than financing) and bought a reliable car. a 96 Dodge Neon, snow white. Everything would have been good if IT did not do what she did. I had this car repossessed and bought out so many times it was ridiculous. Also lesson learned. When I was tired of the games, I took it to the bank and told them I could not afford it anymore. Explained why and gave them the keys. They sold it auction for $500 and then sent me a bill for the remaining $6000. I will not tell you my response, but I am sure you can guess.

I ended up with one of the best vehicle I have owned after this though. Bessie I got her as I got married. She was our family vehicle and quite frankly ran forever. Plymouth Voyager I forget the year, but she was periwinkle in color. When I finally retired her to the junk yard she had well over 300,000 miles on her. No working lights, or gauges. That is right no speedometer, no nothing. The odometer had been broken at 285,000 for three . She was replace with Bessie 2 which we still have.

Since we had the family vehicle eventually I got myself work vehicles again. You know the kind you $800-$1200 for and they last as long as they do lol. No worries. There was my Black PT Cruiser that last 18 months or so

followed by the black VW Jetta I got another 18 months or so out of. Although I did enjoy the moon roof and heated seats. The heated seats were definitely the best.

Last car I had before my Stark I have now was a Ford Contour. This beauty (used lightly) broke too fast on me. I spent a summer biking to work, because I didnt have the money to replace it yet

in fact it is how I got Stark, my Red Dodge Avenger I towed the Ford into a dealership. Said I had no money down, could not more than $200 a month, my credit was bad, and I wanted to trade in this POS... what did they have. A month later I drove off the lot with Stark

As you can tell I have always been trying to stay close to that Cuda. The majority of the vehicles I have owned have been Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep family.

How about you? Do you have a dream car? Stick with a certain brand?

My first car was a 1966 Malibu with velvet-like fabric seats in a starlight powder blue. It got totaled on a patch of black ice when I was only doing 5 mph. Remember Pacers??? Then I had two of those and the anecdote of how I got the first one home it fodder for another post. Tehn I had the first version of Subaru with the hill holder clutch followed by a LARGE number of Toyotas, which I dearly love until I got the 2014 one. Now I have a Ford Focus hatch with about 40 miles on it. End of car history but boy I appreciate your
car dream

That 66 Malibu sounds nice...Black ice is nothing to fool with for sure.

Pacers ha oh yeah...I had a neighbor who had a Gremlin he raced. It was interesting to see this Gremlin with Huge slick tires and wheelie bars.

Toyota's have great engines. 40 miles, wow the lowest I ever had was 600 miles so jealous.
