It's fucked up that this happened to you. For the record I would take that 1% chance.

Sorry to hear that, I have a lady friend in the same boat. She tends to have a pretty normal sex life as well. I do wish you well, and the best going forward.

Interesting info and the transmittal stats are surprising. Good on you to put this out there. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

First and foremost I am sorry to hear of your situation , Thank You for sharing . I strongly believe that big Pharma REFUSES to find a "CURE" for many things such as Cancer and many other Diseases. It's a known fact that when Dr Saulk found a cure for Polio, it's been said that would be the last disease to be cured ! There's no money in a Cure but plenty of money for Meds and Treatment. Again thank you for sharing your info for I am one who always thought a condom protects you . GOOD LUCK

About 15 years ago a woman I was seeing regular thought I was seeing another babe based on my internet correspondence and being on this site,,,,,,,,we she hooked up with another dude and got infected. When she told me I freaked but got tested and was found clean. She later said she was so angry and stupid to think that I was into another babe, but she could be with me either because of the risk,,,,,,,,so, we tried to be friends and have since lost touch. But I think of her all the time.

Thank you for researching and sharing this information . It's a personal experience that touches all readers and helps them understand risk involved.

Knowledge is power and the CDC website is a great source of reliable information. Thanks for sharing, as that required courage on your part.

I've never had a breakout, but I found it in a random blood test almost 8 years ago. It HAS changed my dating and sex life, but it definitely isn't over. People who are truly knowledgable about STIs generally don't find it a huge deal. Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale Her infinite variety. Other women cloy The appetites they feed, but she makes hungry Where most she satisfies. For vilest things Become themselves in her, that the holy priests Bless her when she is riggish. ~~ from Antony & Cleopatra

It scares the hell out of me! But what can you do? I mean we aren't gonna stop having sex!

Sadly, it's just the utterance of the word that makes those stats inconsequential to the toilet seat cover crowd. You'll be fine! Using more than all the road!

The scariest thing is that 87% don't know they have it. It is also scary that you were infected despite the precautionary use of a condom. When one adds in all the many STD's overall, it makes my staying home and masturbating sound pretty reasonable. Thanks for having the courage and integrity to share this and to be forthright about it. Best Wishes Anything done half-heartedly will net you an equivalent result. ~CH

Thanks so much for the information and facts. I actually wound up with an STD (trichomoniasis) - a very treatable and common one, but an STD nonetheless. I had been with this lover (and no other) for over 4 1/2 years and monogamy and exclusivity had been assured (which is why no condom). Well it seems it was on my part, but he apparently didn't keep the bargain. Misplaced trust on my part, and a hard lesson learned. I cried for a few reasons when I got the diagnosis. An STD (my first and only) at my age and a lover that was clearly a liar. Be Honest..Be Sincere...Be REAL

I can understand you'll have run a huge range of emotions, but you can see from the replies its not the end of the world. I like your honesty but I do think it's a weird world that we live in when being honest seems to be noble. When did that happen? Being honest should be the default position. I hope you come out of this stronger and more informed. Keep your chin up lady. Men will still send you dick pics! lol.

That is sad to here and I wish you all the best for your recovery. I have contracted herpes simplex (HSV-1) as a young boy, not from sexual contacts, but probably in a dermatology clinic that was treating me from eczema at that time. It had a devastating impact on me which is still visible after more than 30 years. Herpes, like eczema, will stay forever with you, but you can get it under control. It is not just the sexual intercourse, it could be a kiss or a scratch that transfers the virus., so a condom will help but you better look out for blisters and rashes. On yourself, also look out for infections signs at unusual locations, like ear lobes, around the eyes and contact your doctor as soon as you notice the first signs. If untreated or detected too late it could have an impact on your hearing or your vision. Occasionally, when I am stressed, I feel the tingling and see the blisters start around my lips or in my face. Then it is time for treatment with Aciclovir or similar. Fortunately I only need a crème for a couple of days and and don't need tablets at the moment. Your treatment might be different and I would follow the advice of your doctor. i would also look how you can avoid or early detect an outbreak: limiting stress, avoiding irritating chemicals and anything that impacts your immune system might help I had no infection in my pubic area and on my genitals, so I am less of a danger. But nevertheless I use condoms unless my sex partner is willing to accept the risk. The advantage is that I am also protected in case she has a STD. As much as I like spontaneous sex, I avoid sexual contact with unknown person unless both partners know more about each other and accept their medical state.
