I caught a bit of this story yesterday and wondered what the whole deal was. The levels of stupid/ignorance here are beyond words. The story could only be better if the unholstered gun in his waistband had gone of there. No injury to others and a great story for the Darwin Awards. This is what the NRA wanted and this dork gave it to all of us to see just how dumb the arm everyone talk is. Thank you KMD When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

You know in the story he is young, still living with his parents, and he was apparently drunk. The gun fell to the ground and discharged. As a prior gun owner, that either means this gun was modified to have its safety mechanism permanently off, he was traveling with it with the safety off, or it is now broken. In any of those cases, he should be charged with negligence because a responsible gun owner would have had the safety off. The gun should be confiscated and not returned. He was carrying "concealed" with no permit. In states where you can openly carry, you still need a permit to carry "concealed". So this is another part of the law that was broken or flagrantly disregarded. Just as a hit and run driver is charged with a more serious crime because he left the scene of the crime, this man should be charged that way because he left the scene and went home to his parent's home. His dad had to turn him in, according to reports. And his gun should be taken away because of this accidental shooting. He should then have to attend a gun safety class in order to ever own another gun in his life. I know this is not malicious and the woman was not shot with intent, but if we impose the same restrictions on gun owners, as we do with drivers of cars, it would go a long way to preventing these kinds of "accidents", which I think is criminal negligence. The theater made no effort to notify other theater goers that a shooting had taken place. If your business is affected because people won't go in your place of business for fear of being shot, in this case in the dark, you might be more careful about who you let into your theater. So there is other common sense that could have been applied here. Oh but what am I saying? Common sense and guns are like oil and water for a lot of people. Didn't see or hear about it. He most likely took the gun to the movie theater to get pussy as all else must have failed
